There is not much that beats a day out Birding in the Kruger National Park! With a bird list of over 500 species recorded in the park, you will be sure to have a fantastic day out! The Kruger is extremely diverse and species rich which makes it the ultimate birding destination. Our full day birding safaris start out in the early in the morning, and we are back in the late afternoon. We collect our guests from any guest house, lodge, or hotel at any of the towns or gates surrounding the Kruger National Park. The open safari vehicles have roll down sides to protect you from the elements. We also have fleece lined ponchos to protect you in the case of rain. After collection we will proceed to the nearest entrance gate where we will pay entrances and start the birding day trip. We suggest bringing along some food, snacks, and drinks as we sometimes get carried away with the birds that we just enjoy our food on the vehicle while birding. We do however try to make frequent comfort stops. If you would like to make use of the restaurant and shop facilities in the park you are also welcome to do so. While on our comfort stops, we generally still do some birding as there are often birds around the picnic sites and rest camps which are very difficult to find elsewhere in the park.
The Kruger National Park is home to an amazing array of mammals, which include the Big 5 and we regularly encounter fantastic mammal sightings while birding.
Our Birding Day Trips are sold as a private vehicle tour and not per seat. The only exceptions are when we host a birding day, we will sell seats. This allows us to have only birders on the vehicle and makes it more enjoyable for everyone. We are also much more flexible on the private tours.
Please remember that the Kruger National Park is a vast wilderness with free roaming animals. There are no guarantees of any sightings. However, your guide spends most of his / her time in the park and knows the animals and their movements very well. They will offer you the best chance out there to see them. If you listen and interact with your guide, you have a fantastic day end you will end up learning a lot from them.
